Day 57: pt 1

Didn't post yesterday, sorry.

Jamie's mom is giving me a ride back out to the trail which is super awesome. She moved her departure up from Monday to Sunday. So I'm hitting the trail today. Will give a more detailed post tonight.

Day 55: test hike

This morning I went out for an hour and a half of test hiking. I did some trails around XLs house, mostly flat and paved. So when I got back I did a bunch steps on his deck, and bounced on the calf tempting fate.

My leg seemed fine, so I will soon be back on the trail. On Monday Jamie's mom is driving to Ohio, so I'm catching a ride with her back to the trail.  Then my plan is to hike through July. Then do gen con at the start of August. Then regrettably go back to work. I'm sure I will have some future posts about my work situation, but I'll leave those for after some long pondering hikes.

Hopefully the money will hold out that long, I should check at some point.

Here is a picture of Jamie playing pokemon.

Day 53: lonesome George

I was showing my mom how to make a blog post, and I uploaded this picture of lonesome George as an example. So here is the story of lonesome George.

Lonesome George was a Galapagos tortoise, a tremendously long lived tortoise. As a youth he witnessed the devastation of the island greenery when sailors let their goats onto the island to graze. As he grew older he watched all the other tortoises die of starvation or old age.  When he was the last of his kind conservationists found him and kept him in a sanctuary. During that time they tried unsuccessfully to mate him with other similar tortoises. He lived many decades in tortoise decadence with all the lettuce and grapes he could eat, but he would never find love. He died alone taking his whole species with him.

For those of you who don't believe that my parents live on an island with a tiny drawbridge that is run by a little old man on a tiny bicycle, well you are right, I guess he retired. But here are some pics of the island approach.

Now I just have to convince my parents to make a sailing blog this summer.
